These are the figures UCAS publishes for 2026 and 2027 entry. The table is rendered here in full so it is useful even without the calculator above.

AS levels are set at around 40% of the A level value at each grade, which is why they are not a neat half. An EPQ is worth exactly half the same grade at A level.
What the totals mean
Most UK offers are still written in grades rather than points. This is how the common three-A-level combinations convert:

What this does not cover
This calculator handles A levels, AS levels and the EPQ. It deliberately does not cover BTEC, the International Baccalaureate, Scottish Highers, Access to HE Diplomas, or the many other qualifications in the Tariff. Those have more involved rules: BTECs are scored by unit size and grade combination, and the IB is counted separately for Higher and Standard Level subjects.
We would rather cover less and be right than cover everything and be wrong, because the only thing a calculator is good for is being accurate. For anything not listed above, use the official UCAS Tariff calculator.
Two things worth knowing
- Many universities do not use points at all. A large share of offers are made in grades, and some courses require specific subjects regardless of your total. A high points score does not substitute for a required subject.
- Points are not a ranking. Two applicants with the same total can be treated very differently depending on which subjects made up that total.
